Facebook & Twitter services got blocked in Egypt over some public clashing with the government and police. Twitter serviceswas blocked at 11 A.M, New York time earlier today, according to business week.
The blockage is affecting the overall standard of twitter.com andtwitter related API’s, the company said.
“We believe that the open exchange of info and views benefits societies and helps go
ts better connect” with people, Twitter said in a separate message posted to its site. The company didn’t say in its messages who it believes to be responsible for the blockedservice.
Twitter was found blocked when Egypt users found it inaccessible according to Herdict.org, a site that monitors website accessibility. Posts on Herdict blaming the Egyptian government for blocking Twitter couldn’t be confirmed as accurate, Laura Miyakawa, a Herdict project manager, said in an interview.
Facebook was also found blocked through out the country. It is certainly not surprising if they want to protest. Anti-government activists used the social network to plan the protests, gathering the support of 90,000 users who agreed to attend the event.
