A new app called AirView is now available as a free download from the App store. This app converts your iPhone, Ipod Touch, or iPad into a AirPlay receiver, thus enabling you to play videos streamed from another iOS device or from iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC.
AirPlay is a feature that was introduced in iOS 4.2. It allows streaming of music, photos, videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Apple TV 2G. We have already seen some solutions in the past that have tried toenable AirPlay for 3rd party apps, and also get AirPlay for Mac to stream videos from iPhone to Mac.
AirView essentially allows AirPlay from any iOS device to another iOS device on the same WiFi network. So if you got some videos on your iPhone and want to watch them on your iPad, then simply start AirView (AirPlay receiver) on your iPad and then start streaming the video from your iPhone by tapping the AirPlay icon for that video.
AirPlay currently supports only streaming of videos, and does not work with music or photos. With Itunes installed on your Mac or PC, you can stream videos from your Computer to your iOS device too using AirView.
Grab the app before Apple decides it’s taking too much liberty with their AirPlay feature and pulls it off theApp Store.
Download AirView [iTunes link]
